Design features
The CMB-VS is a vertically arranged combination boiler that is operated with the flue gas of the drive motor. The oil-fired section increases the steam quantity if necessary.
In the standard design, heat is transferred in the oil-fired section by a smooth flame tube and a number of corrugated fuel gas tubes for the flue gas return. This area can also be equipped with pin tubes on request. The flue gas area is fitted with smooth flue gas tubes.
The furnace cover plate has a pronounced dome shape, which gives the CMB-VS greater stability for ship vibrations and protects that part of the boiler against overheating to some extent because residue in the boiler water cannot be deposited in that area as easily.
The flue gas area of the combination boiler is designed so that it corresponds to the flue gas values of diesel engines and the specific steam requirement.

The CMB-HF is a horizontally arranged combination boiler that is operated with the flue gas of the drive motor. The oil-fired section increases the steam quantity if necessary.
Based on the two passes in the convection section of the oil-fired area, the highest possible efficiency is achieved for marine boilers. Heat is transferred in the oil-fired area through the corrugated/smooth flame tube and a number of smooth flue gas tubes. These flue gas tubes and the furnace are accessible for cleaning and maintenance through hatchways on the rear chamber wall. The flue gas area consists of smooth flue gas tubes.
